This is the second course in the Social Health Services program of study. Each class in our program of study needs to be taken in order so they scaffold and build ideas on one another.

Course Description
Lifespan Development builds basic knowledge in human growth and development. Upon completion of the course, proficient students will have knowledge of developmental theory, principles of growth, behavior of children from conception through adolescence, adult development and aging, and death and dying.
FCCLA
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is the co-curricular career and technical student organization which has FAMILY as its central focus. Students plan and implement service learning activities through participation in FCCLA.

Nine Weeks Grades and Semester Grade:
Percentages used to average grades in classes without a state mandated exam:
- 40% 1st or 3rd nine weeks + 10% mid-term (9weeks) test = beginning nine weeks grade.
- 40% 2nd or 4th nine weeks + 10% final semester test = final nine weeks grade
- Beginning nine weeks grade + final nine weeks grade/2 = Final Letter Grade
Attendance
A student who comes in late to any class during the day (after the late bell) or leaves early (prior to the dismissal bell) will be considered tardy. Three unexcused tardies during a semester will be considered one unexcused absence for each class.
Students who are absent five days without adequate excuse will be reported to the Director of Schools.
Virtual Learning Attendance
Every student must participate in remote learning every instructional day. Schools will provide students in grades one (1) through twelve (12) access to six and one half (6.5) hours of instructional time each school day. Absences during remote instruction will be noted, and any resulting attendance interventions administered, according to the School Board Attendance Policy. Schools shall seek and receive daily visual, verbal, and/or written verification of student participation in instructional time.
Attendance expectation accountability includes the following:
○ Teacher phone contact with the student
○ Teacher phone contact with a parent or guardian
○ Virtual instruction attendance log through Canvas
○ Student work completion through virtual platform
○ Other virtual formats initiated through the school system
BELL RINGERS – Will be given daily and this will count as your attendance. Bell Ringers that have not been submitted into Canvas by 3:00pm each Friday, the student will be counted absent for each bell ringer missed.
Academic Honesty Expectations
All students shall do their own work. Any student caught cheating during any graded activity, test, exam, etc. receives a failing grade on that graded activity.
Class Cell Phone Policy
STRIKE ONE Phone is placed on the teacher’s desk until the end of class.
STRIKE TWO Teacher keeps phone until second lunch.
STRIKE THREE Teacher turns phone in to the principal/office.
